Michael Cappetto is a New Jersey singer-songwriter and live musician whose sound blends pop, alt-rock, folk, and acoustic influences. Drawing from real life experiences, heartbreak, loss, self doubt, and growth, Michael writes honest, relatable music with the goal of creating songs that make people feel understood.
Michael’s music is influenced by artists including Noah Kahan, Ed Sheeran, Chris Cornell, Shinedown, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, and Linkin Park. Their vulnerability, emotional honesty, and powerful performances have shaped Michael’s approach to songwriting and performing, allowing him to move between warm acoustic moments and powerful rock inspired vocals.
Born in Long Branch and raised in Howell, New Jersey, Michael discovered his passion for music at seven when he was given a piano. He began performing at 12, picked up guitar at 15, and began songwriting as a teenager. Along the way, he studied with vocal and performance mentors including Jody Joseph, Matt Fernicola, Brenda K. Starr, Deb Lyons, and Cynthia Balme.
Michael has performed throughout New Jersey and New York at venues, festivals, and community events, including The Stone Pony and the Count Basie Center for the Arts. He releases his original music through his own label RubuCapp Records, with songs including “You’re Just Not The One,” “Where Are You, My Love,” “Beautiful As You,” “Fool,” “Nowhere To Go?,” and “Worthless?” As he continues growing as a recording artist and live performer, Michael remains focused on telling real stories, connecting with people, and creating music they can see themselves in.
